Well I'm no expert, but the vet who did Xavier's surgery was wonderful. They did bloodwork prior to the surgery, and sent pain meds home for after. Although, Xavier refused to take them!
He's just a brat like that...lol. I would try to find a vet who will let you take him home after the surgery, that way he can recover at home under your watchful eye! Hope this helps in some way
