I finally settled on Foster & Smith's food for my Yorkies (I have 12). All mine do very well on it and I was completely satisfied until I joined here and saw all the different foods and comments about them. Now I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't move up to a higher protein food. I can't seem to find a good answer as to what is the ideal protein range for most Yorkies. My gut tells me to keep the protein down (F&S is 26% for its chicken and 21% for the lamb) so as not to tax their livers over time but I'm really not sure. I worry about the incidence in accquired MVD and liver shunts in Yorkies. I'm certain that the food I use doesn't have any bad ingredients but not so sure if it's the ideal food or not. A lady that recently got a puppy from us called today to tell me she was doing very well and that she had given her daughter some Foster & Smith's for her Shi-tzu and 2 Yorkies that were very picky eaters and were not eating well and that they all love it. Foe now I'm staying put with F&S but am still searching for good info on desired protein levels.
