We have hawks,too. I watched one behead one of our chickens. Another time one flew over my head low enough that I could see he had a large fish from the nearby lake. I also had one fly over my truck as I was driving and dropped whatever it had onto my windshield. I darn near wrecked. Scared the crap out of me! But I know they could take a Yorkie.
