I don't thing blanket statments are doing a dis-service to the breed - I just posted about a nice one and I know there are many out there - but too many pitts these days aren't trained and too many people just don't care - OR are using them for watch/attack/fighting dogs - which makes them very dangerous if in those circumstances.
You don't have to own one to know there are lots of reasons they have the reputation they have. Personally I'm afraid of them - but I know in my heart there are good pitts in the world that would never hurt a fly
