YES!!!!!! I have the Pet Cruiser basket and I do use the wire top when the girls are riding with me as I think it provides much more protection then a tiny helmet should we crash. I did also rig a tether into the back of the basket (closet to the handlebars) as I also wanted to make sure they are secure in the basket with their harnesses. I added an actual cushion in the bottom because the thin piece of fur that came with it was not comfortable for the girls.
Sissy is just over 4 lbs and Angel is a little over 4 1/2 lbs. The extra weight makes is just a little more difficult to get started, but doesn't make any difference once you get going. We love our basket and the girls really enjoy their rides!!!
