What type of coat?? I'm not so sure how to answer that one, does that sound totally stupid?? I thought all Yorkies had the same coat!! OH no, I feel like a TOTAL dummy now!!!!!!
The correct coat according to standard is a silky coat...it's fine and cool to the touch like fine human hair. But there are other coat types too: cottony soft coats (Rylie has this coat)...it is really thick and very soft and more "warm" to the touch I guess. You can also have a coarser or wirey coat..more terrier like. Lacy has a coarser silky coat. Coarser coats don't grow as well and break off easier...the coarser the coat the worse it grows. You can also get a modified silk coat which is kindof in between a true silky coat and a soft cottony coat.
