NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I really don't think they get much hotter if they have longer hair...it's a single coat...no difference with our hair. I think they will get hot either way...it's just crazy hot here in Texas. I could see trimming it *a little* but no way no way no way would I shave it off!! Don't do it!
