yes my boys keep them on when we are gone. They have run of the house, but I know that as soon as I walk out the door my yorkie hops on the kitchen table and looks out the window and my Boxer sits next to the window with his chin on the window sill. BTW I pull the chairs away from the table and he can still jump up on it with no problems, now I just leave the chairs there and clean the table when I get home. Poor babies they just sit and wait the whole time I am gone. I can see their little faces staring at me as I back down the driveway
