I was scared too!! Here's what I posted on another thread about this:

I got my 3 lb chihuahua, Bitsy and my 3 1/2 lb yorkie, Brooke spayed at the same time. I waited until Brooke was 1 yr and I felt like that was as big as she was going to get and Bitsy was 3 1/2 yrs old. I was very nervous about the surgery but I found a vet that has spayed rats and my girls are definatly bigger than rats!! My vet is at an animal hospital that allows you anywhere in the facility, so I was able to be in the operating room and I watched both surgeries. In fact, Brooke had to have some baby teeth removed also. I wasn't sure at first if I was going to be able to watch but I wanted to try. It was very interesting and I was able to be there for them when they came to and were in recovery. They came through really well. It is easier for them to do boys, just make sure that the vet is used to doing small animals and I am sure you will do fine. My vet didn't put any instruments into them, she only cut about a 1/2" opening that she could put her finger in and pull the organs out. Hope this helps, relax and everything will be O.k. for your little man!
