There is the legitimate Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), which is similar to the American Kennel Club, but for Canada, and another registry, started in the U.S., called the Continental Kennel Club (CKC) for breeders who aren't eligible for the AKC. Its primary use, I believe, is to mislead consumers. Any breeder can register any dog with the CKC so the "papers" aren't worth the ink they are printed on.
