My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please reember that stress can cause or increase hives whether or not there is another trigger. So hopefully, as a family, you can stay calm. I break out in a terrible rash each time someone is in the hospital. Took me three years to finally pinpoint the cause and now that I "know", it's much better.

An animal/allergy story from my past. We always had pets. My little brother and I were sick a lot and getting worse. It was finally diagnosed as asthma with bad allergies to all animal dander. At the doc's orders, Mom gave all of our pets away. We were devastated and got worse. The doctor told Mom that stress triggers asthma and allergies nearly as often as any allergen, and that if we were going to be even more miserable and stressed out without our animals, then we should keep them and deal with the allergy problems we had. Mom rounded up all our animals and brought them back home. And although we dealt with allergies and asthma attacks, we lived happily ever after.
