Louie's vet prescribed ivermectin 1 x daily for the mites, simplicef 1x daily for other skin infections that may have been a result of the mites, and hydroyzine for the itching. Im soooo happy we figured out the problem especially since louie was taking prednisone at one time for what another vet thought was allergies.The strange thing is louie never seemed "in pain", definitely itchy but never "in pain". And yes the vet told us that for him to have this mite means his immune system is not working properly. The stranger thing about this situation is I have lupus, my immune system is suppressed by steriods because it works against me as well...ironic huh? like mommy like son i guess |
