Hmmmm...I'm not familiar with any poles. The ones our SoCal people use are metal, and we just stand them up and clip them together (I think you get 2 clips per x-pen when you buy them from the store). Is yours maybe soft-sided so it came with poles? Maybe bring them if they're not too cumbersome, and if we don't need them, we just won't use them? I can't say since I'm not familiar with them
