Glad you both are okay. If you can't afford a car seat, there are leashes that hook into the car's seat belt latch. There are two models of cars, though, that it does not fit into. That would need to be checked out. I have four furbabies. When we went to Tx last weekend, I had two in a My Buddy Lookout Safety Seat (could have had three) and the other two hooked to seat belt leashes. Worked out just fine after I finally figured out who worked best where. There are horror stories out there about what can happen to our furbabies if they are strapped in.
