I mix the raw with the kibble and have done so with my Bichon for over a year...and never have had a problem. It is not true that you can't mix them together...they just digest at different times just like our food digests differently.
If you are worrried, do the transistion slowly. Most just do the switch, but you have to do what you feel comfortable with.
