I have my girls x-rayed about 5 days before delivery date. The vet can usually determine the number size of the pups and if there might be any problems. This is a very good tool and should not be skipped. At that time, you can keep the vet on call and make an appointment for a c-section if needed.
If she goes into labor and doesnt present a puppy within 1 hour and there is heavy contractions, there is a problem and she needs assistance. I can usually turn the puppy if this happens and get it out sucessfully, but that is not for the inexperienced.
Please have your girl and the stud shecked for the usual health problems that Yorkeis have: bile acid/liver shunt, legg perthes, hip displasia, collapsing trachea, patellar luxation.
Good luck!!!! |
