Everyone handles grief differently. Some need another pet as soon as possible. Some need to wait a while. Some will never get another. Everyone handles it differently. If you feel the need to get one right away, you should do that. You would definitely not be replacing her but would be giving yourself another baby to love. If something every happened to Lacy I know I would feel the need to have another soon afterwards...I have just gotten so used to haveing a dog and love her so much that I would just need to keep that in my life.

Ditto!
I lost my little Yorkie boy on Jan. 2 of this year. The same thing happened to him. He bolted and was hit by a car. It was horrible.
That very day, my husband said, "I'll get you another dog honey" I was offended, but he was only trying to help. He loved Peanut too.

Anyway, just a few days later, my Dad called and said he wanted to get me another Yorkie, but to give me time, he found a breeder who's puppies wouldn't be born until later that month and couldn't come home until Spring.

I couldn't help but be excited about a puppy and it really did help me. I still think about Peanut all the time. I cried the first day we brought Abby home, because I felt like I was betraying Peanut. It was silly. Abby hasn't replaced Peanut at all, I love her with all my heart though.

Just a week after we brought home Abby, someone offered to give us Daisy. Her family was divorcing. So we now have 2 yorkies.

As MyFairLacy said, everyone is different. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer than I did to get another Yorkie to love.
