When nails are left to grow too long the quick (which is where the blood is at) also grows longer...To force the quick back and get the nails to a shorter length you have to trim the nails back, right before the quick...Then as suggested you need to keep the nails trimmed back on a weekly basis to send a message to the quick to back off...With deligence you will get the nails back under control...

Nails are very important to keep short, it is like us not wearing the correct shoes...too long of nails effects how our dogs walk ...If they can not rock forward on their foot it changes their gait and can cause foot problems, leg problems or back problems...

Good luck getting them shorter...I know you can do it!
