They won't cut down to the quick unless they are under. SO if she hasn't been spayed yet they will do it then so you can work back at keeping it short. You can either increase your time walking her because it will wear it down naturally or you can take her in at least once a week and have them cut it some..it will make the quick recede. I never used a dremel..I try to take a bit off every week as part of her bath experience because the nail is a bit softer and for the most part they are fairly mello after the spa treatment.
