I don't really see what the awful deal is. Certainly having 2 of the same sex parents in this society isn't all that abnormal anymore.
I don't agree with going on tv and making a wierd deal about it but certainly these people won't tell their child the situation until the child is age appropriate to know the details about he/she actually came about in this world and the choices the parent's made about their own sexual identity. I know several same sex couples (most of them Professional individuals) that have successfully raised wonderful well adjusted children. I seriously believe, all a child needs is to be loved and know they are wanted to be a successful adult in our society.
