Actually you have roughly a 5 day window for getting pregnant. It obviously doesn't work for everyone but its the general rule these days. 5 days before ovulation until ovulation. Once you've ovulated, its too late. Sperm can live for up to 5 days in a woman which is why they say (if you are trying for a kid obviously) have sex on the 5th day before period, 3rd and the day right before.
