Well, i the inside of charlies ears, not the stuff towards the top. If you don't pluck the hair i think they are more prone to ear infections (correct me if i'm wrong). as far as shaving the backs of them that is up to you. i don't shave charlies ears because i think they look cute flopped over, and i think they are too big to stand up any way. hope this helps
