I just took Sawyer in for his yearly check up and shots. The last time, I told the vet I did not lepto, and they had to get a certain shot that came without it. This time, I told them I have a new puppy coming Thursday, and that when I came in for his shots, I did Needless to say, I canceled the bear hunt, and skipped it not want the lepto again. My vet laughed and said, We do not give Lepto anymore to these little dogs unless it is requested.So unless I was going to take my dogs bear hunting, or living on the land in the deep forest, I should be just fine without it.
So I would use your own judgement on where your dog will be, and how exposed to Lepto he will be. I only use flea medicine when we are out in our motorhome for the summer. Anything that has the potential to kill, and is not specifically needed ( like heart worm meds), I am very lax to use on my little guys. Hope this helps
