I'm pretty much a snob when it comes to wine. I hate to admit it, but I will because its true. We spent two years living in Italy. My favorite types of wine are Chianti, Shiraz, and Barollo and I will drink Merlot if nothing else is offered. My favorite brand of wine is Dievole from the Tuscany region of Italy. (Their vineyard is amazing. We spent a romantic getaway there). Barollo's are absolutely stunning but NEVER drink one straight out of the bottle (which I rarely do anyway) and be willing to put some money up for it. We keep some of these in our wine fridge for special occasions.
I may be a snob about it but it doesn't always have to do with the money. There are some really good wines that are nicely priced as well. I love Yellow Tail Shiraz for example.

The best part of wine drinking is the experimenting and sitting around talking as you enjoy a good wine. I loved that about Italy. Everything was centered around food and wine!
