That's originally what I wanted to know, if it was for now or later; I wanted one of those when Joey was a puppy for the same reason. If that's the case I think you might be better off buying one that fits him now, young puppies need this more than ones that are 6 months of age when they are so much more independent. I used a soft sided carrier and just slug it around me, but I think the ones made for this purpose would be much better.
