Another update!
I went to the shelter today to fill out the application. You have to walk through the dog/cat room to get to the front desk. I got there and as I walked in the woman was feeding a 2 day old kitten. I filled out the papers, and she said I can start whenever I want! She doesn't do a schedule, because most of her volunteers are teenagers and she knows that we have all kinds of other things we do -- so just to come in whenever I'm available and I want to help out.
I think I'll start Thursday.
Walking through the hallway with the cages totally brought me back to when I got Rusty, and that made me get a little...emotional. But I held it together, and I think after getting through the initial you know...shock of it, I'll be fine. The dogs all seem really sweet.
I'll let you guys know how my first day goes!
