I prefer to get them as early as possible because I like them to know only the most positive of experiences as well as take a chance of them bonding where they presently live. Shadow was 6 months when I got her and it was not till she was about a year and a half or two years before we bonded. 12 weeks is the perfect and preferred time frame, but four months is certainly not to old.
