I'm no expert, but have a female that has had one litter. A pregnant female should be eating a good quality (I understand that Canidae is good)
PUPPY food and as long as she isn't becoming overweight, she can eat all she wants. She's eating not only to nourish herself, but her puppies too. When she whelps, yes, she should be in a quiet spot/room away from any other dogs. A good website to visit and learn is debbiejensen.com. It will tell you many things you need to know form pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, whelping, and care for mama and puppies after birth. Go there, read, read, & re-read....then google yorkie whelping and read anything and everything else you can find. You'll do fine and when the time comes there are many of us here eager and willing to help you and/or learn right along with you.
