You definitely should talk to her insurance company. One thing I don't really recommend (until it's absolutely necessary) is contacting YOUR insurance company. My husband is an auto insurance adjustor and has told me repeatedly about the people that call in to report something and then end up, for some reason or the other, not filing a claim. Well, unfortunately that still constitutes a "claim" on your part. Once it's opened, it's on your "record" and with some insurance companies, it's three strikes and you're out. It's a sucky policy (the unfinished claim part) but it's the truth and some people don't know about that. Do your best to deal with their insurance company first without involving yours. And most people do only carry $20 rental insurance and these days that's usually not enough. But maybe you can deal with a little bitty cheap car for the time you have to? If the $20 will even cover one of those. Good luck and don't let her intimidate you!
