How old is your pup? When you have any dogs, you have to puppy/dog proof your home just like you would if you had a toddler in your home. You have to watch them all the time and teach them not to chew on cords. You can also get covers for outlets and put tubes around your power cords. If you can't watch him/her you need to put him/her into a crate or xpen or room where they can be safe.
