how can i stop him from shaking and being scared? thank you everyone =) |
the best thing you can do is just ignore his shaking. Any attention you give to it just reinforces the behavior. Bring treats with you and when he settles down (or even starts out the drive calm) give him a treat and tell him good boy. give him lots of love when he is calm and if he starts shaking, ignore him.
we have the same problem with Layla at work. She will hear a loud noise and will freak out. She wants to be picked up and caudled but we just tell her "Layla you are fine" and as heartbreaking as it is... we have to ignore the behavior.
eta- also try taking him in the car whenever you can...e venually it will be an every day thing..
