Hi:
My first home-bred Yorkie pup had a retained testicle. I waited until he was almost two to neuter him because I had heard the surgery could be so difficult.
He had the two incisions as described by above. He went through the surgery with flying colors and I was only sorry I waited so long. I have heard of testicles dropping up until they're a year old, but I've learned that it's rare for anything to change after 6 months.
