If they keep the standard like it is now, I think there will always be a lot of variation. If they really want a consistent look, they are going to have to set a goal and breed for a specific look and write a standard based on what they want the perfect Mi-Ki to look like. There are so many breeds that originated from other breeds...a goal was set and dogs were bred specifically to get the traits they wanted in the breed. So, yes I think they could get consistency, but they are going to have to be more selective in the type of dogs they are breeding.
I don't have a problem with new breeds being developed if they are done the right way with a goal in mind. Like I said, I don't know what the goal is with the Mi-Kis. Maybe they are really trying to get a consistent look...maybe they are still trying to figure out exactly what they want the perfect Mi-Ki to look like..so maybe once the figure that out, they'll make a more specific standard. I don't know... will be interesting to see
