Well I can tell you I dont have my baby Yorkie yet but I am suppost to get him the end of March and I have a 10 month old and a 7 year old, my 7 year old is wonderful and gentle and my 10 month old is, well a 10 month old, you just have to be very careful when it comes to your children handling the dog, if you do let them handle it. Im sure your 6yr. old is old enough to know right from wrong and as far as your 1yr. old just make sure you keep a close eye on them together. My breeder has told me this, and she also said that yorkie's can make great pets for families with children, just keep a close eye on them together. I cant wait to get my yorkie baby and I know my children will grow up and learn to respect dogs and animals, what a better way to learn!! Hope that helps you some!
