I dont think its possible to have several litters and work at the same time and would never do that. However, I do feel that dealing with one litter and working should/could be fine. With so much new technology out there... you can install a monitor on the mom/litter at home and be able to watch them from where ever you are. And, for someone like me who works less than 10 min from home... I dont see any problem with that at all.

Just because you dont stay at home doesnt make you any less capable of taking care of a litter or a child for that matter... If we as people didnt have the ability to multi-task, our civilization would be way behind...imo
