I think they can get sad, I hope Sparky doesn't get depressed while you are gone though. Think of it like SPARKY is getting a little vacation of his own, I'm sure your mother-in-law will spoil him lots during this time. You can also leave a shirt or something with you and your husband's scent on it, to make Sparky more comfortable while you are away. Just be prepared for lots of hugs and kisses from Sparky when ya get back!
