I always do an AkC limited/no breeding contract on my puppies. And now with all of the "alternative" registries popping up like weeds, I am just going to have all my babies spayed and neutered before they are placed. That way they will NEVER end up in the wrong hands. I screen as much as possible to place these babies into loving, forever homes. I dont have very many puppies anyway but I just cringe at the thought of a puppy falling into mill or byb'r.

I have had people that I thought were great bring the puppy back after they thought things over and wanted to "make the purchase price back by having "just one litter". Just when you think you have found the "right" family, greed gets the best of them.

I always explain the contract up front, before I even meet the people. That way they dont waste a trip to my house and I dont waste my time.

Even then, there are some people that spend hours with the puppy, knowing in advance the contract, and still balk at the spay/neuter/ AKC limited stuff.
Then they get mad because I wont budge, so I just tell them that the puppy is not for them and to keep looking.

I even had one person call animal control on me out of vengence.
