Gosh, I know there is a substitute for shortening at the natural food store that is made from palm oil and I've heard some people use coconut oil as a substitute too. You can get granola at almost any grocery store or natural food store. It's usually in the cereal aisle.
I haven't made any of these recipes, I have made some sweet potato treats that the monkeys love if you want that recipe
