Congratulations on such a precious little baby boy. He is just darling.
I have to say the best way to keep your baby out of harms way and much easier to take care of and train is hook up the expen to a wire crate. (not on a carpet.) Put wee-wee pad down close to the door. Hook up water dish to the fence or a little water bottle that hampsters and such use. I left the crate door open, put a blanket over the crate to make like a little den. Take your baby outside every hour to run, play, train and potty.
I used this method on all three of my girls and now they are pad and outside trained. There will be time where your not home to take him out when he has to go, and that's where the pad comes in very handy. Also when you travel and are in motels, or for very rainy days.
This is where I bought my expens and wire crate. www.petedge.com/pens
Be sure to post lots of pictures of your baby when you bring him home.
