I was told this by my son's dentist as well. They feel the child would be more likely to be upset and act up if the mother is there. I told the dentist that I WILL be in the room or I will find another dentist. And that was that! My son is way too scared to go through that alone and I am his parent. I will not let a dentist tell me I can't be with him.
