Some dogs can tolerate really cold weather without being uncomfortable. It all depends on several factors. First is how they are raised. If they are raised in a really warm home, then their tolerance to anything under 70 degrees will be low. If the home is kept really cool at about 65 to 66 degrees, then they will be able to handle cooler weather outside. If the dog is an outside dog, it will handle even colder weather. However small dogs do not do well if kept outside when the temps. go down into the 40's and lower.
Rule of thumb is.........if your dog shivers, then maybe a coat or sweater would make it feel really good.
