I don't have kids but i still understand how you're feeling, but i remember as a kid my mom was always in the room with for dentist, doctor, eye doctor anything. And I was allowed in the room with her for all of the above too expect for annuals. I think it's weird they would make you sign some kind of form and not let you in the room that would really creep me out.
As far as you and your husband try and let things settle. Say you're sorry and try to calmly explain why it made you so upset. Sometimes men just don't get it. I freak out all the time and my husband things I'm nuts, but after I explain myself calmly he still thinks I'm nuts, but he adheres to my wishes because it important to me even if he thinks it's weird or crazy.
