well waht a bummer,, wonder why?? i've had ours over a year now, ,runs all the time,, i add water daily, clean it MAYBE once a week,,wash the filter at that same time, and replace the filter as needed,,which isnt too often,and have 3 Yorkies drinking from it,, and its never hard to clean,, must be the water thats the difference ,, ya think?? i love ours,,,still!
