Hi! We originally kept our Mariah in our huge bathroom but the pee-pad training just wasn't working. She would go on the pads but also all over in the bathroom.

We decided to put an x-pen in the bathroom. It is about 2x6 and she has her pee-pads on one end with her food/water, crate and bed on the other. She has consistently gone only on the pee-pads since we did this.

This is the BEST advice we have gotten from this site and it has worked so very well for us!

When we get home we take her out of the x-pen and closely supervise her. About every 30-45 min we walk her back to the x-pen and coax her to go in the pen by herself and tell her to "go potty". She goes pee on the pad every single time and then we praise and give a treat! It's been working really well!

If your puppy is doing fine at night - I would keep doing what you're doing!

We have also taught Mariah to sit and she does exactly as you described. She will sit when she knows I have a treat in my hand but before I ask her to sit! LOL! So for the past 2 days I ask her to sit and instead of immediately giving her the treat when she does sit, I say "lay down" and take the treat down to the floor. When she's laying down I give her the treat and praise! She doesn't quite have it down pat yet - but it's coming!

Good luck with your puppy...they are such a joy!
