Thanks for the reply. Did your maltese also have a smell during the flare ups? I read somewhere that if one suspects their dog has food allergies that I am supposed to bring him all the way down to just cottage cheese and rice for a few days and then slowly start integrating his usual foods in one by one and space them several days apart. He likes cottage cheese but has never liked rice much. I thought of quinoa which is high in protein and more nutty tasting. He is next to me and just ate some little Ceasar veal flavor and is licking his front paws. I read that that also can be a sign of food allergies. I don't know. The itching is less constant now, which is great, but the nights are the worst. We have had to move him out of our bedroom now which is really upsetting him and every night he barks for about 15-20 minutes before going to sleep. Before you say anything, I know. Little Ceasar is not good for him, but unfortunately the food that I had prepared for him and frozen into little patties in our freezer that he loves I had unfortunately mixed with onions, so the Little Ceasars is a last resort food for the moment. I haven't yet had time to buy the lamb and other ingredients to make his food and I wonder if I should if he is allergic to some other things in it. |
