is your laptop still under warrenty?
when i had that problem i called dell and they sent me a new one. they can tell you which cord you need. the phone call of course was very aggrivating because you can barely understand them and they don't understand you...but that's dell for you... something else happend with my dell so i soon after fixed that problem....
