I am taking your advice with the food and treats. I started last night and only fed them the Innova dry for puppies with 4 very tiny (almost nothing) pieces of boiled chicken (the chicken just gets them started on the dry). I will continue to use the Mother Hubard Puppy Biscuits as a treats, I think are a healthy approved treat, Wellness makes them. I will only mix in the Natural Balance Lamb & Rice meat roll evey now and then (do you think that's ok, b/c they just love it and Natural Balance is suppose to be good, right?) NO more apples! and I guess NO more cherrios. I used the cherrios as potty training treats, b/c the were so easy! But I do not want to hurt them in any way. I guess what I can do it break up the puppy biscuits really small (like a cherrio) and start to use them as the potty reward. The only other thing they got last night for literaly 3 or 4 minutes is the Quest Nylabone Nutri Dent b/c they ate poop before I could get to it. I cleaned up their faces and I gave it to them for those few minutes to freshen their breath! From here on out they will only get it under the circumstance of poop eating and hopefully that will end very soon! As far as the Nutri Cal goes, I was under the impression they should get it every morning? I only give them the size of a small pea. Roxy was hypoglycemic at one point in her early months. I just thought it is best to give them a little everyday? Also, I did still sprinkle the missing link on their dry food this morning, is that ok too?
I think this should be better for them, BUT it is only 50% of the battle. Like I said, TJ is a hoover vacuum, and believe me, I DO CONSTANT inspecting and cleaning and puppy proofing. Some how, every now and then he decids to chew on couch, the corner of a new wall, the moulding, cardboard, etc. I think when a new tooth is loose or an adult one is pushing through he needs to chew and just finds something! So that is the other 1/2 that effects his tummy. I will just take things one day at a time. I hope the food part which I can control very easy will help a lot though.
Again, THANKS so much for your thoughts and suggestions, I do appreciate it. I am learing everyday from TJ and Roxy and from all the kind people here on YT. |
