Your puppy is a baby. You need to baby proof your house first of all.... Potted plants need to be supervised! You can't leave a puppy near one and hope it doesn't dig, eat, chew, or knock it over!
You should but your baby in a safe place where there is NOTHING they can get into for their safty as well as to save your stuff from getting ruined. A create, xpen, or a room like a bathroom or laundry room would all be good choices. Make sure there is NOTHING they can get hurt on. You have to treat these babies like babies...they are!
I'm sure your baby will grow up and calm down in time. Enjoy him while he is young, you will miss it when he is older.
There are lots of threads to read on what people do with their puppies when they can't watch them.
