I've found that different methods work at different stages. So you could certainly try the water bottle. But don't give in to the boundary stretching. It's like having a little teenager!!

At 12 weeks old, I'd say a quick time out would be good thing to try. I don't scold when I do time out, because I don't want him to equate his kennel with negativity. It's simply a consequence. In his mind it's "When I do this, this happens. If I don't want to sit in my kennel, I don't do that." At least I hope that's what in his head!! I quietly pick Coby up, say "NO" and place him in his kennel for a few minutes. When he comes out, he's usually calmed down.
