I have heard of this and thinks its normal but I have never done it either. His ears look okay, not too much fur on the inside. I keep his ears dry when I bath him and clean his ears with a solution (Oticalm) on a weekly basis as it was recommended by the vet when I first got him when he was a puppy and that was it. I do check his ears every week just to make sure they are okay.
